Todd Carter ↓
Todd Carter is a seasoned executive with a passion for how technology will advance business models in the digital economy. As the Chief Technology Officer of Internet Broadcasting, Carter is the driving force in bringing next-generation, digital solutions to Local Media. Prior to joining Internet Broadcasting, he was an executive at global retailer Best Buy, where he most recently led the development of a global technology strategy for the company. Carter received his first taste of what the Internet has to offer in 1993 while completing a degree at Marquette University and has been fascinated with the possibilities it offers ever since.
TJ Kudalis ↓
TJ Kudalis is the technical product manager for video at Internet Broadcasting. He began working with streaming media in 1999 as an award-winning Web journalist in Minneapolis at Channel4000.com. In 2001 he moved to Internet Broadcasting and began designing and integrating Web video solutions for over 70 local television stations across the US. While working with NBC’s local stations, he architected the Web video capture & distribution system to cover the 2004 and 2006 Olympic Games for NBCOlympics.com and distributed the first live streaming video from the Olympics. TJ specializes in integrating video tools and content management systems into usable workflows for journalists and is leading the team integrating Kaltura’s toolset with Internet Broadcasting’s CMS.

Michael Dale ↓
Michael Dale is a long time open source media developer. In 2006 Michael Dale co-founded metavid.org an all open source community video archive of US house and senate proceedings. Working with Kaltura and the Wikimedia Foundation, dale explored HTML5 video editing, p2p html5 content distribution, and collaborative subtitle authoring [3] Today Michael is the lead architect of the Kaltura HTML5 library and leads efforts on the html5video.org site to enable participation and integrations with Kaltura HTML5 library as well as provide information about HTML5 video in general.

David P. Kronmiller ↓
David P. Kronmiller is a Media Consultant with nearly 20 years experience in the Entertainment Industry. He received his degree from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinema/Television’s highly competitive Production Program where he rose to the top of the program as afilm Director. He worked at Sony Pictures’ world renowned DVD Center, now the Digital Authoring Center, initially as a Quality Control Technician where he wrote what could have been one of the first QC Manuals in the DVD Industry and then finally as a Project Supervisor with clients ranging from Sony’s own brands (Columbia/Tris-Star, Screen Gems, etc) to Disney and Paramount. He was the Content Operations Manager for the Disney Interactive Media Group’s site DisneyMoviesOnline.com where he ran a team of technicians and encoded over 300 movies for the Walt Disney Company – additionally during his time at Disney he was tapped to do research and development on transcoding practices. David is also a Content Producer with multiple Web Series and projects under his belt, including over 100 videos, some shown worldwide, on CNN and it’s affiliates. Currently David is a Consultant for Kaltura Inc where he has written their document entitled “Best Practices of Multi-Device Transcoding” as well as helping with their transcoding needs and services.

Keith Wilcox ↓
Keith Wilcox has worked in the software engineering field for ten years. Throughout his career, he’s worked on independent games, retail software, on-board UAV systems, and high-profile entertainment experiences. He currently works for Disney Interactive Entertainment where his focus centers on building robust video platform solutions for Disney.com and its affiliated sites.

Chris Young ↓
Chris has been working in digital media since he joined at the BBC in 1999 where he led the application development of their BAFTA award winning Interactive Multiscreen Wimbledon coverage. He went on from there to work with broadcasters and platform operators including ITV and Deutsche Telecom in Europe and Dish Network in the USA to deliver Interactive and IPTV TV Applications and Advertising. For the last three years he has been heading up UI development for the forthcoming YouView hybrid IP/Broadcast STB. In his new role of Head of Architecture and Platforms at Base79 he is working to help content owners better monetise their video rights.

Johnathan Kanarek, “Tan-Tan” ↓
Johnathan Kanarek (aka Tan-Tan) is developing for the last 13 years and still loving it! He lead the development in his own software company Simple.co.il in 2008-2009 and specialized in web automation and content distribution. He worked as a senior Java expert for Amdocs, a world leading software company for billing, CRM, and operations support systems, spearheading development of business process management and automation. In 2005-2006, he lead the software development in WAC a pioneer company in monitoring and control systems as the Chief Development Officer. Johnathan also worked for ICQ, as PHP developer.
Johnathan’s rich experience and software development expertise are put into practice in Kaltura where he leads back-end development and oversees work on the core Kaltura Server.

Ron Wallace ↓
Over his 17-year career at Avid Ron has focused on media I/O and file-based workflows for the Media Composer and Interplay professional product lines. He was instrumental in the development of the Avid’s digital I/O subsystem, various hardware video interfaces, and ancillary data support. Ron was also architect for Avid Media Access (AMA), a plug-in framework for accelerating file-based workflows. In 2010, Ron received an Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Emmy award for the development of AMA. Ron is technical liaison to Avid’s camera and deck partners and chairs the internal Cameras and Formats Advisory Group. Prior to joining Avid, Ron worked as an engineer/architect of library computer systems, optimizing language compilers, image processing workstations, and laser display systems. Ron is a member of SMPTE and the Advanced Media Workflow Association.

Bob Craig ↓
Bob is a member of the Avid Office of the CTO and leads the CTO Labs team. Bob’s focus within the Office of the CTO is in exploring new workflows, products, and features that could become Avid products and solutions. The CTO Labs team works closely with other Avid development teams and third parties while developing proof-of-concepts for potential new solutions. Bob is based in Madison, WI and has been part of Avid for 12+ years. He has been involved in the development of many of Avid’s products in the Broadcast line and driving technology initiatives across Avid. Before joining Avid, Bob worked for several other software development companies, including stints at two start-ups. Bob holds a Bachelors degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

Sidney Maestre ↓
Sidney Maestre is a Developer Evangelist with X.commerce group at eBay. His work involves exploring innovative ways to use PayPal and eBay Inc developer APIs. Sidney has previously presented at Adobe MAX, 360Flex, NCDevCon, HTML5DevCon, SenchaCon and Silicon Valley CodeCamp. His topics have included HTML5, jQuery Mobile, Sencha. Flex and ColdFusion. He also organizes BAM!, Bay Area Mobile, a meetup focused on HTML5, jQuery Mobile, Sencha AIR, and other multi-platform mobile technologies.

Kevin Freund ↓
Kevin Freund is responsible for managing and executing all of Kaltura’s OnPrem virtual and physical cluster deployments on customer premises. Kevin’s background is in large scale computing, digital media, cryptography and content delivery. Kevin’s experience in computing has spanned 24 years, as a developer, architect and operations manager, with interests in 3D visualization, fractal mathematics, network optimization, and media encoding. One of the original developers of MySpace, Kevin wrote the code for the MySpace Media platform, responsible for ingest, processing, storage and delivery of all rich media content on one of the largest social networking and media consumption sites in the world. Kevin later built an organization under News Corporation responsible for developing, scaling, modeling fail-over and cost-optimizing one of the world’s largest private media platforms.

Nir Erlich has 14 Years experience in Web/Mobile Consumer Products. Prior to Kaltura Nir served as VP Product Marketing at RayV in Los Angeles, before RayV Nir founded and ceo’d Knocka.TV, an interactive online TV startup and was the CEO of Vario Technologies – a software house specializes in professional services in the areas of Web, Mobile and IPTV development.

Vlad Fedorkov ↓
Vladimir Fedorkov is a Director of Support and Consulting at Sphinx Technologies. In his day-to-day work he’s helping people to grow their websites by scaling and optimizing them and eliminating performance bottlenecks on a different levels. In the past he was worked with high-performance systems as a developer and team leader. Before joining Sphinx he was worked at Percona. In his off-duty time he’s enjoying traveling, bicycling and photography.

Jess Portnoy has been an open source developer and believer for the last 15 years. Prior to Kaltura, Jess worked, among other places, at Zend where she was responsible for porting and packaging PHP and Zend projects on all supported .*nix platforms. David Hassoun ↓
David Hassoun is the founder of RealEyes. RealEyes is a digital media firm based in Colorado that focuses on advanced Flash Platform rich Internet applications for the web, desktop and mobile devices. He has always had a passion for interactive motion media, the power of video, and the challenges of usability and interactivity. He is an Adobe Certified Master Instructor, Adobe Community Professional, a member of the Flash Media Server Technologies Community Advisory Board for Adobe, teaches advanced RIA classes at the University of Denver, serves as the Rocky Mountain Adobe User Group Manager and the Flash Media Server User Group Manager, and has taught and developed many advanced Flash and Flex application courses. He is a recognized industry leader when it comes to Flash and video and has spoken at many national and international events, and has been published many times on Adobe’s Devnet website on a large range of video related topics and new technologies as they are being released.

Tom Ortega ↓
Tom Ortega learned to program when he was 12, on his school’s computer. It would take another 9 years before he would get a computer of his own. In those nine years, he honed his skills in writing, art and other creative outlets. This has created an duality of passions within him. Technology and art have a way of combining to create things that are wonderful beyond measure. Since 1995, Tom has been working on applying technology to business solutions. He’s started with client/server solutions, moved onto to web based solutions and is now in the mobile space. He’s a consultant that works with small startups all the way up to large enterprises. As long as technology was needed to solve a problem, he was there to help solve it. Tom pays the bills by farming his technical services out at his new mobile consultancy, Omega Ortega, while moonlighting with his best friend on Area 161, a new type of game company. Leon Gordin ↓
Leon Gordin is a seasoned web developer (with over 11 years of experience writing web applications), as well as an experienced Linux administrator/integrator. Leon is an expert on complex social and interactive web application development. During his work for ICQ, iMesh, and several internet start-ups, he led development on a number of big scale interactive portals. Currently Leon is the lead developer on Kaltura’s enterprise media portal “MediaSpace”, rewriting it from scratch, to meet the needs for a better architecture, with greater stability, modularity, and scalability. Leon’s biggest strength, is in his unique ability to grasp a web project from all the technological aspects (server configuration, database architecture, performance optimizations, backend development, and client side – including javascript html and css). Leon was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and currently lives in Tel-Aviv, Israel. He is fluent in five languages, and teaches Brazilian dance in his spare time from coding.

Luca Candela ↓
Luca Candela is Sencha’s product manager for the Tools product line. He has worked in a wide array of industries: Localization, Advertising, Data Visualization, Social Commerce and User Experience. During his career as designer, developer and product manager he has contributed to the creation of many web applications and now spends his time creating better tools for developers and designers like himself. Born and raised in Italy, Luca is passionate about design, UX and best practices in software development. Outside of work, he likes snowboarding, playing guitar and organizing the UX Eye, one of the biggest and most active communities of UX professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Eitan Avgil ↓
Eitan is a senior developer at the professional service team in Kaltura and in fact is the oldest developer on the team. Eitan has 10 years of experience. Eitan manages the Israel community Flashoo which is an official adobe user group. Eitan wrote and maintained KDP 1 and 2, was part of the KMC team and also is part of the KDP3 team. As a professional service programmer he holds the record of writing KDP plugins, and skins.

Sean Ouimet is a developer-designer hybrid who has a passion for good user experience, application architecture and the overall product creation process. Having started a web hosting and design company in his early teens, Sean has 14 years of experience the industry. Now the Director of Product Development at Redman Technologies, a national real estate technologies firm based in Edmonton, Alberta, he regularly blends his commerce education and marketing experience with hands on interface design and application development. Not shy when it comes to working on either the back or front end of a project, Sean regularly works in CSS, Javascript/Node.js, PHP, Ruby on Rails, and in managing Redman’s cloud-based infrastructure. Michael Penney ↓
Michael Penney has been putting videos up on the web for educational projects since 1995. He ran streaming media servers, shot and edited video, developed digital media content, and managed online learning environments at Cal State from 1995 to 2007. There his team developed a number of plug-ins for an open source dynamic learning environment called Moodle, now used by 57 million teachers and students around the world. Michael has led teams in building online multimedia learning projects with Moodle for Cisco, Intel, Novell, Cal State, Massachusetts, and other corporate, public sector, and education clients. Michael is the VP of Products at Moodle Partner Remote-Learner (http://remote-learner.net/), where our team is working with Kaltura to create integrations that enable teachers and learners to easily work with video presentations, video enhanced learning projects, and video assignments. @michaelbtw

Akinsaya Delamarrare is a software developer and has 8 years of experience. Akinsaya works as a developer for Remote-Learner Canada (an official Moodle partner) creating extensions and various plugins for Moodle. Akinsaya also developed the Kaltura extension for Moodle 2.0; and was part of the development and maintenance for the Moodle 1.9 extension.
